Go To (this site): Go To (related sites): Unlike four-year schools and universities, DVC (and most other
community colleges) have not in the past kept track of alumni.
In order to have an active alumni group, obtain follow-up information
about what happened when alumni left DVC, and enable valuable
networking among alumni and current students, we need to get current
information from you. Networking - If you will or have already entered a transfer school or any
career in which you use any of your science, then current students
and alumni would appreciate your checking "Yes" here. You may
specify what contact information is provided. This network has
been used to give to transferring students a list of friendly
faces at their new institution. It also gives students someone
to talk with when exploring career ideas and provides networking
opportunities for alumni. In the past year, two alumni got jobs
through the network. To currently make the system more effective,
more people need to update their records. Currently the manner of using the network database is low tech.
Users must inquire via an instructor who knows them (see the "Talk to Us" page for some email addresses). The database is not made directly
accessible to students or alumni. DVC science faculty may request
access. Science Alumni Directory - You may opt to be included or not in a directory in case we
do one in the future or in case you have a class correspondent
who wants to set up an email list to allow your class to communicate
with each other. You can choose what contact information to include. Campus Alumni Association - If you check "Yes" here, your information will be shared with
the campus alumni association if one is formed. Otherwise the
information will be maintained (if possible), as it is currently,
by someone in the DVC science program. DVC campus alumni association
formative efforts have begun, but the association has not yet
begun to have events or newsletters or benefits yet. You will
be informed when things start happening. Those people who have already given permission to have personal
information shared with a campus alumni association were once
put on a list to receive the quarterly campus newsletter, the
DVC Review. We hope you will enjoy the newsletter. However, if you receive
the DVC Review and would like your name to be removed from the
mailing list, please contact Grant Cooke, Director of Marketing,
Media Design, and Public Relations, either by mail or email gcooke@dvc.edu The information in the Science Alumni Database will be used for
contacting you about DVC science alumni activities, asking for
alumni responses (last year we were looking for local alumni interested
in paid DVC tutoring opportunities) or providing other DVC information.
It is unlikely that we would be contacting you more than a few
times a year. Science instructors may use it to send notes. It
may also be used for preparing summaries in which individuals
are not listed by name (such as: how many of our alumni transferred,
etc.). These summaries give valuable feedback and help promote
our program. We will not sell or give your personal information in the Science
Alumni database to commercial interests for marketing purposes. Most of the names and contact information came from alumni forms
you filled out and gave to us at the end of a science class at
DVC. Others came from science instructors you had shared information
with and who would like you to be a part of this group. Other
information was provided by other alumni or other sources. (To check whether your name is in our database, go to "You are
Important to Us", enter your last name in the box after "How do
I know if I have a file already?" and search.) We would hope that you enjoy maintaining contact. It is unlikely
that we will be mailing or emailing you more than a few times
a year. However, if you would like your name removed from our
database, email scialums@dvc.edu requesting deletion at the next available opportunity. You will
then not receive further contact from us unless by accident we
get your name from another source (since we are always trying
to find more alumni). You may add your name back into our database
via the Web or mail at any time. Any changes or further clarification will be posted here. Please
send any feedback or suggestions to klong@dvc.edu
