Request for Proposal Submission Guidelines:
As the Umoja Community claims its space on campuses across the state, it does so "in community." Acting in community, we will continue to put a way into no way. Without permission or money we come together again, vowing to help each other be bigger than ourselves. The Umoja V Conference Planning Committee invites you to submit proposals for 90-minute workshops. Come present and share with us your pedagogical practices and real-life experiences that help to accelerate academic success for African American and other students of color. We want our sessions to be "in community"; indaba, interactive, taking us deeper and further in our practices.
Your proposal should describe and illustrate how to intentionally and deliberately engage 21st Century African American students in reference to one of the following learning strands: African-Centered Pedagogy, Basic Skills and Beyond, Black and Brown: Si Se Peude (Yes We Can), Black Male Initiatives, Black Student Leadership, Community and Global Partnerships, Connecting to Historically Black Colleges and Universities, Culturally Relevant Pedagogy, Data Collection and Accountability, Exemplary Umoja Programs, Student Services and Student Success, and Teaching and Learning.
Your proposal should be prepared to meet the needs of all audience levels.
