Online Math 142- 5002/5003
Spring 2013
Statistics with Probability
Orientation Info and Syllabus Section 5002 - Fridays
Orientation Info and Syllabus Section 5003 - Saturdays
|
This course covers the same
material as the on-campus version and is presented as 16 modules in a
17-18-week format. Although the course is not "self-paced", you can
decide when, during each week, to do all the required work. The typical
student spends about 12-15 hours per week to master the material for
this 4-unit course. Course requirements include projects and discussion
postings,
weekly online homework assignments and proctored examinations. Students
are required to use an interactive online program (MyLab/Mastering)
to master the material and complete assignments. Students may have a
note card for each exam so memorizing formulas will not be necessary.
Students are strongly encouraged to log into the scheduled orientation
at the beginning of the semester. Login instructions are available on
the syllabus.
Note: The Friday section has computerized, online testing in a
computer lab on the Pleasant Hill campus and the Saturday section
has paper exams in a regular classroom on
Saturdays. All students are required to show a valid photo ID
when they come to take the scheduled exams.

This course will cover the same material as the 18-week Fall/Spring
course but will be presented in a 9 Module 6-week format so be prepared
to put in about 25 hours per week to master the material.
All students are encouraged to attend the online orientation. Login instructions are available through the
link on the left along with the syllabus. During the orientations I will
be demonstrating the course management system and answering questions.
Students wishing to add should join a waitlist and attend one of the
orientations. I do not anticipate being able to add students who are not
on the waitlist but you can come to an orientation if you like in the
hopes that there will be unexpected openings. In addition to the
orientations there will be face to face exams on the
Pleasant Hill campus so please mark those dates on your calendars! |
